"If you want to go quick, go alone. If you want to go far, go together."
We are Inspired, we are Inviting, we are Innovative, we are Invested. We are New Creation!
These words still ring in my ears even after our leadership retreat.
In essence, we are one. One team, one sound, one mission, one goal. And in everything we do we are called to glorify God as we transform lives through Jesus Christ.
This weekend taught me the importance of unity and the important of the strength that can be experienced when we come together.
When put together under one roof you will find countless people here at New Creation with different gifts, talents, insights, and wisdom that all help to push our mission forward. New Creation cannot stand on the shoulders of one person alone. It has to be a continual group effort. We must work together hand in hand as God works through us.
That's what I saw this weekend. The willingness to be a part of something greater than ourselves. I saw a coming together of young and old, male and female, deacon to elder, human being to human being. I saw a team. I saw the breaking down of old traditions being willing to welcome in something new. A new culture.
They say the only constant in life is change. As time progresses so does the world around us, as do we. Many times we can fear change because there's a comfort in wanting things to remain the same. But nothing ever grows out of comfort zones. We're always presented with two options in life: Grow or stay the same. We either "step forward into growth or back into safety" (Abraham Maslow). The same is true for organizations. We are meant to evolve daily, otherwise we run the risk of becoming stagnant.
In this retreat I saw a taking pride in where we have been, but an eagerness to embrace where we are going. That inspires me. Everyone wants to be a part of something meaningful and I believe New Creation is good soil. I'm proud to be a team player, and I'm grateful to work alongside and get to know people who work hard to keep Christ at the center of it all.
I walked away from this retreat with the daily prayer of this: God use me. Use everything within me to help better your kingdom while we're here on earth. Use my knowledge, use my hands, use my ideas, use my heart, and while you're using me, help me to be a blessing to others along the way. Help me to comfort, help me stop and listen, and help me to execute this mission daily.
My final prayer is this, that in executing this Mission we will engage all people to become New Creations in Christ through Inspired Word and Worship, Inviting Evangelism, Innovative Discipleship, Invested Lifestyles of Salvation, Holiness, Stewardship and Service and that God will grant the Increase. In Jesus name, Amen.
