Pray and find the provided resources that sends the troops the things they need and donate to them. As for Bush, now that's another story. I would just pray for him. He is a man with a great deal on his hands. Eveything he do or say is in the light. Please hold him up in prayer rather if he's wrong or right. He is our President.

Prayer seems to be the best choice, but silence is often effective. Resisting the temptation to engage in conversation that is not loving and compassionate is also a great option. The course of life is determine by the LORD, which few know their own. The war and the President often seem to be that easy target. It was once said "Public perception is not always private truth."

I think that we as the church schould pray for the president and his administration to end their time in office with out any major things happening. We need to all so pray for the next president to come in to office ready to take on what is left for him.

Saints,

We also need to keep in mind that in the last days, these types of events are going to happen. This is supposed to get worse before it gets better. I cannot with any certainty say that this particular war corresponds to a particular end-time scenario. What I can say is that we need to refocus on preaching the gospel.

Regarding "OUR" President:

It is true that we should pray for our leaders, so that we can lead peaceful lives, and this president definitely needs more prayer! It's hard to rememeber that, however, when his administration has done so much to circumvent the legislature and the U.S. Constitution. We should also be praying for the next administration, because they'll have to fix the problems this administration created. Now that I think about it, we also need to pray that Congress doesn't overreact to this administration's policies and put undue restrictions on the executive branch. The executive power is necessary, but this administration has abused it to the point that the (We the) people may no longer have confidence in it.

I could be wrong but isn't there something in the office holder's requirements to be of any faith?... Now when those who were first in forming ang documenting the government of the U.S. went through the rocess I'm almost certain that they anticipated men who were Christian(among other things).

With true forsight I agree with Barnett... if all of us pray the leader (male/female, christian or not) will still have to abide in the will of God.

How can we serve God without serving our nation? How can we reap the wealthy abundance of this nation without in earnest faith thanking our God? For the service-minded Christian, it is all a multi-layered experience Our nation is our home. Our nation which just happens to be managed in part by politics is at least 70% Christian. With such a mass of believers under one Christian roof, it would be unwise to NOT CONSIDER THE PRESIDENTIAL'S CANDIDATE'S PERSONAL FAITH AS A DETERMINING FACTOR IN HIS/HER BEING QUALIFIED FOR OFFICE.

The question posed by S. Tucker in this blog, "Should a U.S. presidential candidate's personal faith be a determinng factor in his/her being qualified for office?"
is a great one. I would hope that a candidate's personal faith helps voters understand the candidate a little bit better. But in the end, the candidate should ask this same question of him or herself, "Does my personal faith influence who I am as presidential candidate?" One cannot compartmentalize who they are. We are who we are by an integration of life's experiences (academically and spiritually).

Yes I believe they faith should be a factor because we don't suppose to debate God's word. We suppose to do what is right because it is right. That is what righteousness is all about. Taking a stand God said love your neighbors and love him with all your heart and mind. So our mind should always be on Jesus. He is perfect peace. Yes it is going to take a lot of prayer. For as Bush goes the bible also says honor authority even when they are wrong. God will honor us and will gives us a full reward and not a partial reward. Again we are the body and we have to take voilence by force. Well how you do that is by speaking God's word. And standing on it it is time for all the saints to RISE RISE and take a stand in 2008. Take back what the enemy has taking from us.

In Him, Miranda

A candidate's faith or lack of will sway his/her decision making as it does anyone. To the church, it should be a determining factor as the church should set the standard of living as much as possible. Some of what we are seeing today is set in stone since before our time. Other things we have the ability to influence with our vote. For example, whether or not an unborn child will be protected by law and allowed to live. Or whether an unborn child will be called a stem cell and killed for the purpose of experimention. God has chosen his battles and his mind is made up. As ambassadors we have to choose ours where we are most effective. A believer with a good record will get my vote every time.

Politicians are what they are 99% of the time because of the lust for power and prestige. How many campaign promises actually get fulfilled? How often are the needs of the masses put over those of the privileged?

We need to focus on being lights to the world and advancing the kingdom of God. What happens in Washington will happen, but we need to pray and intercede regardless.

Just my 2-cents.

The constitution of this country already contemplate this question and address it. No public office should take a test of faith. More than a president that will serve this country with whatever morals and concepts of God (god) he/she has I am more concern that he defends the rights of every individual to serve the Lord (wich ever Lord he/she has) according to his own conscience. He/she will be put in office not to evangelize but to uphold the consitution and the laws of our country. His/her effort s to maitain the freedoms/rights and privileges we have will facilitate the propagacion of the Gospel according to God's will. God bless the presidents and all the people in office.

Another 2 cents...:-)

A candidates faith is a personal part of the overall person. Considering the candidates religion or faith would say that we know what they would do in office based on what they say they believe. However, we don't do what we say we would do and we are held to the same standards as Christians. Prayer and trust in God that no matter who takes office, God is in control of it all. We get too caught up on putting our faith in man and the bible is clear about that. So no, it should not be the determining factor, but surely considered as a part of the overall picture of the person. Pray for our leaders, and whether you believe President Bush has lead us or failed us is not for us to call or decide, it is God's and only God's.
