The African American Cultural Association (AACA) Scholarship was established in 2005 in honor of African Americans who came before us, who paved the way for opportunities and freedoms we now all enjoy. This scholarship is offered to a Department of Defense (DoD) dependent (youth) affiliated with the city of San Antonio and its immediate surrounding areas who meet the following criteria:
- Is a high school graduating senior
- Is an immediate dependent of a DoD employee, military Active Duty, Guard, Reservist or retired military member, federal civil service employee or DoD contractor
- Is a well-rounded individual involved in school activities and community service
- Shows proof of full-time enrollment in a college or university at the time of scholarship payment (enrollment status must be determined and verified by the school; proof may be college/university transcripts, authenticated class schedules, or a written letter from the Dean or Registrar's Office)
